Design & communications support for care workers

Lily Alexander

Hello! My name is Lily (she/they) and I’m a graphic designer based in Philadelphia with a passion for helping support care workers — therapists, coaches, doulas, midwives, and other healers — to publicize their services, develop their brand, flesh out their story, and ultimately reach the people that need their services most. I believe that strong visual design can be revolutionary; when done well, it can shape behavior, create access to information, and inspire solidarity.

I recently moved to Philadelphia from Seattle, where I was working as a Communications Specialist for Public Health -- Seattle & King County, with a focus on creative digital communications. While there, I developed large-scale public health campaigns, ran our paid social media strategy, and designed digital and print materials ranging from fentanyl awareness to COVID-19 communications.

Prior to working at the health department, I spent a year using participatory design methods and co-creating with young people to understand and address the barriers to Plan B access in Seattle. These insights formed the creation of Miss Morning After, a toolkit to expand youth access to emergency contraception in pharmacies.

My design philosophy—no matter the medium—is rooted in many of the same principles as care work: listening, empathy, storytelling, trust, equity, and liberation. I honor those designers who came before me and work to amplify and lift up the designers coming after.

I would love to connect! Please fill out the form below to get the conversation started.
